Welcome to Deane's. A wee piece of Ireland here in Brasov, Transylvania.
Deane's continues a long line of eating and drinking establishments here in 19 Republici, which
go way back to 1910 when it was Magyar Ewo.
Haydn Deane, a Doctor, came to Brasov in 1998 having married a local law student, Alina, after they met in New York.
They now have three small children.
He had opened his first restaurant, Deanes on the Square, in Helen' Bay, Ireland in 1991,
which quickly became one of the best restaurants in Ireland and soon won a coveted Michelin Star.
The restaurant later became Deanes, Belfast.
As there was no Golf course in Brasov, he thought 19 was the perfect number for an Irish restaurant.
It was a strip club when he bought it!
